Sunbeams Play Receives Grant from GYSLT for Autism Support in Great Yarmouth
Sunbeams Play, a cherished charity in Great Yarmouth, has recently been awarded a grant by the Great Yarmouth Sport & Leisure Trust. This grant is set to give the charity much-need support in their goals to support the experiences of children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by enhancing their access to tailored sporting activities.
About Sunbeams Play
Located in Great Yarmouth, Sunbeams Play provides a nurturing environment where their over 80 members with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder can thrive. Here, they can engage in activities without the pressures typically found in mainstream settings.
The Impact of the Great Yarmouth Sport & Leisure Trust Grant
The funding from GYSLT has facilitated the acquisition of essential sports equipment, including Goal Posts, a Football Goal Target, a rapid Fire rebound board, a basketball trainer unit and more.
This equipment will support physical and mental well-being, foster friendships, and develop essential social and team-building skills among participants.
Moving Forward
Sunbeams Play is set to relocate to a larger facility, expanding their capacity to offer diverse activities like football, tennis, and basketball. This move promises a brighter future for children and young adults with ASD in Great Yarmouth.
"This grant will enable Sunbeams to purchase some new sports equipment and promote healthy outdoors activities for all their service users. We are incredibly grateful for the kind generosity of Great Yarmouth Sports and Leisure and look forward to enjoying our new equipment."
Sarah Southernwood, Deputy Manager, Sunbeams Play
