For over six years, the JGI (John Green Institute) Bowls Group has been more than just a place to play Short Mat Bowls, it’s been a cornerstone of community http://beltonandbrowston.com/. Every Monday afternoon, members gather for two hours of socialising, gentle exercise, and plenty of laughter.
A Social Hub for Over-65s and Beyond
While most members are aged over 65, the group welcomes people of all ages and abilities. The emphasis isn’t on competition but on creating a warm, friendly environment where everyone feels included. From beginners to seasoned bowlers, everyone has a place at the JGI Bowls Group.
The club also hosts two annual lunches, one in summer and another at Christmas, which bring everyone together to celebrate and enjoy each other’s company off the mat.
How Our GYSLT Grant Enhances the Experience
The recent Great Yarmouth Sport & Leisure Trust grant awarded to the group will replace two worn-out bowling mats, a storage roller, and other equipment, ensuring a top-notch experience for all members. These upgrades not only improve the quality of play but also help secure the club’s future for years to come, benefiting both current and future members in Belton, Gorleston, and the wider Great Yarmouth area.
